Community Update April 2018

24 April 2018

Dear colleagues,

Welcome to the second national marine science community update for 2018.

The National Marine Science Committee (NMSC) met in Canberra on 19 April, and the meeting report is now available here.

Preparations for the 2018 Australian Marine Sciences Association (AMSA) annual conference to be held in Adelaide on 1 to 5 July are well progressed.  The conference is only 67 days away, so register here by 16 May and secure an early bird rate.

The Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) has begun the search for a new Director of the Australian Ocean Data Network (AODN) Facility.  The current Director, Dr Roger Proctor, is retiring at the end of 2018.  IMOS is seeking assistance from the national marine science community in securing a strong field of candidates for this important position.  Details can be found on the University of Tasmania website here, with applications closing on Friday 11 May.
